Terence Dewane has been making wine since 1986. He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Business Management. After a brief stint in strategic marketing at a major brewery, he decided that the suit and tie corporate world was not for him. He followed his passion to Northern California to study Viticulture at UC Davis while working at Cakebread Cellars. Upon graduation, he went to work for Johnson-Turnbull as assistant winemaker.

In 1993, he took on the restoration of Pope Valley Cellars as General Manager/Winemaker. In 1995, he took the position of assistant winemaker at Clos Pegas Winery in Calistoga. During this time he founded Belo Wine Company. He is currently developing a vineyard in Pope Valley, specializing in Portuguese varieties. Other dessert wines produced include Tawny Port, Muscat Gris and Late Harvest Semillion/Sauvignon Blanc.
